How to Use Human Membrane Transporter Database
To search for the cDNA sequence (or protein sequence, chromosome location, tissue distribution, TMD, polymorphism, substrate or drug, and other information) of a transporter (which means you want to ask "What’s the cNDA sequence (or other information) of the given transporter?"):
- Choose the "Transporter" from the drop-down list at the top (which is set as default) ->
- Type in the transporter's name, e.g., hpept1 ->
- Choose "cDNA sequence" from the pick list at the bottom->
- Click on "Submit", you can get the cDNA sequence of the transporter.
- To search for known transporters that can be found in a certain tissue (which means you want to ask "What transporters can be found in the given tissue?")
- Choose the " Tissue" item from the drop-down list at the top ->
- Type in the tissue's name, e.g., kidney ->
- Choose "Transporter" from the pick list at the bottom->
- Click on "Submit", you can get the transporters that are known to exist in the tissue "kidney".
Tip:
- When you already entered the transporter name into the "Keyword" line, the picklist item "Transporter" at the bottom should not be chosen.
- The item "Transporter" at the bottom is to be chosen only when you choose items other than "Transporter" at the top.
- If "system error" messages appear, it may be also possible that the data have not been entered into the database yet, or the data are not known yet. At this time there are more than 230 transporter isoforms in the database. Please check the "Transporter List" for the list of the isoforms in the current database and the most recent updates.
